I don’t want to belabor the issue of depression, which I wrote about last week, but after watching the beautiful tribute that Billy Crystal gave for Robin Williams on the Emmy Awards, I have to reiterate the importance of monitoring depression if you have breast cancer.
There are several subtypes of breast cancer, and mine grows in the presence of estrogen. The loss of estrogen can cause depression.
I came across a story this week about a teenager who created an app to expose dishonest politicians. You’re wondering what this has to do with breast cancer? Nothing. But, it has everything to do with young kids taking action.
The reach of social media is mind-boggling. It can change any game, and I want to use it to reach young women about the importance of breast health and early detection. If there are teenagers reading this blog, or parents of teens who are social media net-wizzes, please send them in my direction.
Sadly, breast cancer is affecting more and more young women. We need to get the word out about that, and the importance of self-breast exams. Also, about carcinogens in our environment and how to avoid as many as you can.
The dividend is worth it: health. Breast health and total health.
So, here’s my call out to teens. Contact me and help me get this message out. Just like the kid who created the app, we can reach the entire world!
